Our Mission
To create asociety where equality thrives.
We advance a better world by closing the gaps of inequality through education, economic empowerment, human-rights advocacy, gender and social justice, health and wellbeing, food security, inclusivity, and cultural restoration.
Our Vision
A society where equality thrives.
Every person regardless of identity, geography, or circumstance has access to the rights, care, and opportunity that allow them to live with dignity.
Our Approach
Community-led. Evidence-rooted
We co-design programs with the people we serve. Decisions are grounded in lived experience, refined by research, and held accountable by the communities affected.
Introduction
We arenot-for-profit, non-governmental rooted in community.
SEQHER is a not-for-profit and non-governmental organization that is sensitive to the plight of minorities who experience inequality in our society and works tirelessly to address systemic gaps in order to foster a more inclusive and just society.
We are a leading grassroots, community-led nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the health, rights, and holistic well-being of vulnerable populations. With about five years of collective experience, SEQHER has established itself as a trusted community anchor operating at the intersection of health justice, economic and social empowerment, digital rights, human rights promotion, and environmental justice.
Our target population has mainly been vulnerable people across the spectrum, including youth, children, women, persons with disabilities, persons living with HIV, and internally displaced persons, as well as people requiring special care. Our approach is grounded in result-oriented harm reduction, co-design and implementation, and participatory practice, ensuring that our work is co-created with the communities we serve.
You are not alone. We stand beside the communities we serve not above them, not for them, but with them.
— From our founding values
Our strategic goals
Four commitments we measure ourselves against.
01
Community strengthening
Deepen local capacity so programs outlive our funding cycles.
02
Improved visibility
Make hidden inequalities undeniable through data and storytelling.
03
Acceptance and quality of life
Center dignity for marginalized populations in every program.
04
Building bridges across Nigeria and Canada
Move knowledge, funds, and solidarity in both directions.
Our values
Six promises we made toeach other.
These aren’t slogans on a wall they’re criteria we hire by, partner by, and measure our work against. If we ever drift from them, hold us to it.
01 /06
Respect.
We respect every person, regardless of who or what they are expected of those who work with us, as partners or employees, to do the same.
02 /06
Solidarity.
We are aware that a world where you are treated differently can feel very lonely. We are here with you.
We hold your interests at heart and fight to ensure you get the rights you deserve.
03 /06
Passion.
We extremely care about the world and ensuring equality in it. We will do everything within our power to make sure we can get equality for all not for some.
04 /06
Justice.
No human should be treated less human than any human. Whenever these situations arise, we will speak up, condemn, and work to ensure human rights are guaranteed regardless of identity, orientation, or alienation.
05 /06
Equality.
Equality for all and not for some. The cornerstone of every decision, every program, every partnership we enter into.
06/06
Courage.
We are courageous people. We are not afraid to take on the world in pursuit of our goal — speaking truth in rooms where it costs us comfort, but never our integrity.
Thematic Areas
Four (4)core areas of work.
Through research, outreach, innovation, and community engagement, SEQHER executes twelve thematic areas of work each rooted in a specific need we’ve heard from the communities we serve.
